Over the past 10 years I have photograph just a few a weddings. As the years go by, the gray hairs start to accumulate a little more and life throws some things at you, the vibrant memories of each wedding I have photographed start to fade a little. From every wedding though, there are a few moments that will ALWAYS stay with me though. They are almost always not the moments you would think and they for sure are not the pinterest worthy moments. They are the little moments that usually are the culmination of much more behind the scenes effort.
Over the past year plus, I have reminded Danielle that the most important thing that could ever happen on her wedding day, is that her and Keith just wholly love and enjoy their day. Once that happens, we will take some photographs that they will love. See, Danielle is no stranger to the camera and even photographed a few weddings on her own, so naturally she was very focused on having photographs she and Keith could cherish. I totally understand but my role as a photographer will always be to help my couples love and laugh on their day, THEN we take photographs. Whenever I reminded Danielle of this, she always smiled and agreed…until that moment on her wedding day, when her dress was finally on and I reminded her one more time. You could instantly see that this time was different. She took a deep breath and at the same time, smiled/exhaled/nodded. From that moment on, I watched her let go of all the planning, all the worries and just loved her wedding day and soaked in every moment with Keith.
Danielle and Keith, seriously, thank you so much for choosing me to be the photographer who made sure you enjoyed your day and THEN took photographs you will love 🙂
