Could there be anything more American than going to a baseball game while celebrating our Nation’s independence and eating hot dogs? I took the family out to enjoy exactly that on the 4th to see the Rockford Riverhawks, Rockford’s Frontier League team. I still think Road Ranger Stadium and the Riverhawks is one of Rockford’s little know treasures. For just $10 a person we got to sit front row, 1st base line, right on the visitor dugout. The boys got to dance on the dugout, play with the mascot Rocko and made for some great photo opportunities for me.

With the wind blowing out, we watched a home run slugfest including one of longest home runs I have ever seen at any level. The bad news, it was a 3 run home run by the visiting team, the good news, the guy who hit the home run was drilled in the ribs on the first pitch of his next at bat. That’s how we roll in Rockford. I even had the perfect timing to snag this photograph of a home run by Patrick O’Sullivan. Capturing not just hit, but a home run was always one of my bucket list photographs, 1 down 354 to go! If anybody knows Patrick, please contact me, I would like to give him this photograph.
