This was no ordinary wedding for me.

This wedding was one where many in my family were starting to wonder if it was ever going to happen. 35 years in the making, my cousin Joel finally met a girl who ended his bachelor run… and I could not be more proud of both Joel AND Megan. Joel and I have been close for most of our lives. Sure there was a stretch in our early years where we fought like brothers but that is what happens when you have someone as close to you as a brother. Through the years I watched from very close and then when the mountains of Colorado stole him away, I watched from afar. The whole time I had hoped he would found someone who would walk into his bachelor and turn it upside down. As the years went by I started to realize just how special a person it would have to be to break Joel’s routine.

I remember when he called me and told me about this girl in his church that had caught his eye. I remember when he called me and told me that they went out on their first date. I remember when he called me and asked how I knew I had found “the one”. I remember when he called me and told me about the ring he just purchased. I remember when he called me and told me Megan said yes. So when I was at their wedding, watching them exchange vows, then sing a praise and worship song together, I have no trouble admitting I got a little choked up.

As the time goes by I hope to share many more blog posts about the stories Megan and Joel will create.

Megan and Joel, get ready for the greatest adventure of your lives!
